  1. Hold onto the flower petals with one hand and hold onto the stem with the other hand.
  2. Pull flower petals straight out from the stem, twisting clockwise/counterclockwise slightly to loosen the petals (this may be slightly difficult to do the first couple of times).
  3. Remove the used roll of tape.
  4. Insert the new roll.
  5. Replace the flower petal by pushing it back onto the stem.

Hitting the petals on a surface (not too hard) worked. Turn counterclockwise and replace tape. Word of advice, after replacing the tape twist the petals clockwise, but not too tightly. That will make it easier to replace the tape the next time... :-)

This worked answer worked for me. Pull and turn towards the left at the same time and it'll come off. Thanks!

Slam the petals against something hard (pulling it away from stem) before turning it clockwise. Mine was harder than heck to separate but that worked!

Thanks for instructions! I have had it empty for over a year! Ouch, my hand hurts.

Try hitting the end of the flower on a hard surface while trying to twist. Worked for me

Apparently, I am one serious weekling. I cannot seem to get flower to seperate from its stem. I loved it up until I had to change the tape. A lot of good it does I just have a paperclip holder with a flower sticking out of it. Thank you Schotch!

I gave it four out of five stars because of the difficulty of replacing the tape. I will say that the Library Lady from Texas is correct. Hold the green stem and twist the flower counter-clockwise. You have to use a lot of strength but it will come off and you can replace the tape. I love it :)

After recruiting help from another teacher and still not being able to figure out how to change this tape dispenser, I looked it up online. The instructions were helpful and I finally succeeded in changing the tape. The key is to hold the green stem firmly with one hand, while twisting the flower counter-clockwise with the other. Be prepared to put some muscle in it.

Worthless. Changing the tape is basically impossible.

It is impossible to change the tape. 3 of us here in my office have tried with NO luck. May be pretty to look at but I'm with the other person I think it is time to smash it with a hammer. A bad investment.

Had a problem with ours too!
My husband added heat using a hair dryer around the edges of where the petals are and gently pulled until it came loose. When adding new tape do not jam it tight again. Hope this helps!

this tape dispenser is not that great. too lightweight, tape dispenses from the wrong side, and it isn't "slightly" difficult to replace the tape it is basically impossible! I haven't decided yet if I am going to throw it away or crush it with a hammer!
