How to measure chair caster stems

Does the constant motion of caster chairs create interruptions in workflow? Or, perhaps those chair wheels are wearing down a nice carpet. Instead of replacing those rolling chairs, you can simply convert them into stationary chairs with our selection of chair glides. A chair glide, or slide, features a sturdy molded foot bottom and a rounded steel stem fastener that connects to the caster on the chair. As long as the chair has a complementary caster, once the wheel is removed, the new base and fasteners are fairly easy to replace. The flat bottom of the glides ensure they move smoothly across the floor when the chair is pushed or pulled. Otherwise, the chair remains in one place.

We offer high profile and low-profile chair glides with stems. High profile styles feature an elongated base and come with B stems. Low profile glides have a short base design and come with K stems. Both styles perform well on all floor types and five glides are included in each pack. Please make note of the caster/wheel size and stem sizes when ordering.

What is the difference between guides and casters?
asked by Yolanda on April 12, 2011

Hi Yolanda,

Thank you for asking such a great question.

A caster comes in single or dual wheel sets.  They turn, roll, etc. as wheels.  A glide or bell glide is made to raise the chair and it only glides over the floor.  It doesn't roll or turn like a wheel would.

Below is a link for both Master Caster and Master Bell Glides:

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.  We look forward to working with you on your next order.

Do all stemmed casters have either 3/8 or 7/16 diameters. I'm having a hard time measuring the width and honestly mine appear to be wider than 7/16. Thanks.

We offer four stem sizes The 7/16" C and B stems. I recommend contacting the manufacturer of your chair if your stem does not match any of the illustrations in the size chart below:

how well will the bell glides work on vinyl floor?
asked by ipswich on April 9, 2014

Hi Ipswich,

Thank you for your question about Master Caster Bell Glides.

These glides work great on vinyl floors. Glides don't work well on carpets, but you can use them on any type of hard floor.

Hope this answers your question!

We replaced the casters on our office chair with these glides for better stability. Added stick on floor protectors to the bottom to easily move across the wood floor without scratching it.

My kitchen chair slide out from under me and I injured my back. Since the chairs had rollers I needed to find a replacement for rollers. After contacting on line supplies and sending them the dimensions of my rollers they researched and found these gliders for me. They were a perfect fit and design for my chairs. I have hardwood floors and glide over floors smoothly and do not scratch floors.

We were so excited to find glides to fit on our game table chairs that had casters on them.
On our tile floor, we couldn't keep from sliding away from the table with the castered chairs.
We love the bell glides. Keeps our chairs in place.
Easy to install and very durable. Great customer service and we had our order in just two days.
Thanks for the great service!!

I used these to replace the casters on a dinette chair. When an elderly person tried to sit in the chair, it would start to roll away and make the risk of falling very likely.. These Bell Glides are fantastic, they eliminate that risk. I am surprised they are not carried by the big box DIY stores or the medical appliance stores. I recommend them for anyone worried about castered chairs getting away from them
