Master Caster® Deluxe Casters are not stemless casters. Though some casters are shipped disassembled, the wheels will only fit the included stems.
We offer stemless casters via special order. These stemless casters only fit metal chair bases with welded stems. The welded stems must be 3/8" dia, and up to 1 5/16" long. If you would like to learn more about special ordering stemless casters, please give us a call at 1-866-501-6055.
Since your chair sits on a carpeted floor, you'll need hard wheel casters.
Now, there are two types wooden office chair bases: wood-clad and solid wood. Wood clad chair bases have metal cores, so it's possible that your caster stems are welded to the inner metal core. In that case, you'll need stemless hard wheel casters, available via special order. Just give us a call at 866-501-6055 and we'll take care of you.
If your chair has a solid wood base, you have to remove the old caster stems. This can be very difficult. We recommend prying the stems out with the claw side of a hammer. It may take some strength and determination! Good luck!
Once you have the stems out, you can install a new set of W-Stem Hard Wheel Casters. This is also a special order item. Again, give us a call at 866-501-6055 and we'll set you right up. Our hours are M-Th 9a-6p, Fr 9a-5p EST. We're closed Sat, Sun and major holidays.
Thanks so much for your question about the Master Caster Deluxe Casters. This is such an interesting question because there are so many variable to consider when choosing the right caster such as stem size, material, and the flooring it would be used on.
Speaking to your question, specifically, about the MAS23622, these casters come 5 per set and include 5 "K" stems and 5 "B" stems and would not be considered "female" casters.
When you indicate that your chair is a "male" it sounds like you have what is called a welded base with stem. These types of chairs require a stemless caster like the one pictured in the link.
Hope this answers your question. Thank you for your question about Master Caster Deluxe Casters.
Master Caster makes stemless casters specifically designed for chairs with welded stems. However, almost all chairs of that type have stems that are 3/8" diameter. Before you buy, please re-measure your stems. Stemless casters can only be applied to 3/8" diameter stems.
If you re-measure and find that your stems are indeed 5/16" diameter, I am 99.9% sure they can be removed. Of course, that is sometimes easier said than done! If you are having trouble removing your chair stems, try using the claw side of a hammer to work them out of the base. A little WD-40 wouldn't hurt at this point either.
No matter what type of stem you use, make sure you get the right type of wheel for your flooring. Hard wheel casters for carpeted floors, soft wheel for hard floors and chair mats.
Hope this helps!
