Is the hilcolube compatable with rubber o-rings
asked by Chris on March 6, 2015
    1 vote

HILCO Spray Lube is fine for use on synthetic rubber and surfaces that will come into contact with synthetic rubber. However, it is not recommended for use on natural rubber, or surfaces that contact natural rubber. HILCO lube degrades natural rubber.

is it food grade
asked by Anonymous on November 20, 2011
    -1 vote

Thank you for your question.

Hilco Lube has a USDA food rating of C1, which is not recommended for items that come in contact with food.  This product is recommended for door hinges, weapons, etc.  If you are seeking a lubricant that is food grade it should have a USDA food rating of H1.

Is this product recommended for stainless steel wire rope (cable)? Also, I need a fine mist rather than a stream. Is that possible with the regular spray can? Have cabling on boat lifts that need service.
asked by frank on October 28, 2015
    -2 votes

Yes, HILCO Lube is safe and effective on stainless steel cables. The aerosol can has a one-way valve that only discharges the lube in a stream.

What many folks don't know of is the water displacing properties of this great stuff. I've seen demos (at trade shows) where a 120 v. motor is sprayed (in the windings, etc. themselves) and dropped (running!) into a bucket of water. I've personally retrieved the motor (running!) from the bottom of the filled bucket! No shock, no nuttin'!! I have some large fans on my deck and I sprayed the motors at least 4 years ago and they still run like crazy, outside! In the rain, in the sun and they run like crazy. I can take the garden hose and spray directly into the motor windings and there is no problem! No shock, no shudder, nothing. I cannot recommend this product enough. Writing this review before I order a couple more cans as I am out, again!!!

This is an amazing product. It is so far superior to WD-40 that there is no comparison.

Reasonably priced. Long lasting

Try a can it's great!

Ordered this for my husband to use working on antique tractors and farm equipment. He loves it, and we can't buy it locally so it was great to discover this source.

Hilco is excellent for guns picture is deceiving though. Appears that you're receiving a large and a small can.

I had a salesman from Hill come to our office and his demo for this stuff was wild. He sprayed it into a 3/8 inch 120v drill( our drill, not one he brought) and dunked the drill into a bucket of water, running! Took it out shook it off and dunked it again, running the whole time. Not something I would recommend but we bought some and it has been great for 15 years now. And the price hasn't changed much in that time to boot.

This is one of the best products I have used. We have used it on hurricane shutters, guns, doors, and other open metals. When we used it on our hurricane shutters it did not gum-up in the hot sticky weather.
Now for my guns it is the best cleaner I have ever used, because it has a nice odor and it is perfect product to use after I clean my weapons. I stopped using W40 over using Hilco lube and would not use another product for my metal products.
