Thank you for reaching out, the TrimAir Titanium Guillotine Trimmer does not have a blade tension adjustment, so if it feels stiff when lifting, that’s typically due to the hinge being tight on newer units and usually loosens with use. If it feels unusually resistant, try gently cleaning the pivot area to remove dust or debris. You can also apply a light silicone-based lubricant to ease movement. A good option is Sprayway All Purpose Dry Lubricant and Release Agent (Item #CGC077), which reduces friction without leaving sticky residue. Be sure to use it in a well-ventilated area and avoid spray oils like WD-40 that could damage the mechanism. Make sure to lift the handle straight to avoid extra friction. If the issue continues, it may be a defect. This trimmer is covered under Westcott’s 15-year limited warranty.
