If your gel pen is not writing smoothly, you can get it flowing again in a few simple ways. Scribble on scrap paper to reactivate the ink, shake the pen downward, or roll it between your hands to redistribute the ink. Warm the ink inside the pen by holding it firmly in your hand to generate body heat, or gently place the tip in warm water for a minute to help loosen thick gel ink. If the tip is clogged, you can briefly dip it in isopropyl alcohol and wipe it clean.
