How to choose a heavy duty stapler

Good staplers are a standard office supply in virtually every business. Desktop and electric staplers work great in most offices, but if you regularly assemble documents with high sheet-counts, you need heavy-duty staplers. The process of shopping for a heavy duty stapler is essentially the same as when shopping for desktop and electric staplers: you need to ask yourself the same questions.

• How many people will use the stapler?
• How often do you have to staple documents in your office?
• How many sheets do you usually have to staple together?Heavy emphasis must be placed on "sheet capacity" when shopping for a heavy-duty stapler. "Sheet capacity" refers to how many pages a stapler can staple at one time.

For copy rooms and shared areas, consider:

• Higher Capacity Models: Heavy-duty staplers are available with sheet capacities of more than 230.
• Staple Type:  Higher capacity models often use different sized staples at different sheet counts, so make sure you have all the staples you need to use your stapler.
• Ergonomic Design: Look for models designed with easy and comfortable use in mind.
• Anti-Jam Features: Choose a stapler that offers jam free performance or jam clearing mechanisms.

For personal use at your desktop, consider:

• Smaller Models: Fit comfortably on your desk and can still accommodate a high number of pages.
• Staple Size: Choose the model that can handle the maximun number of sheets as you'll need to staple without requireing you to change staple size.
